WI plan a "fun evening" in November and more besides

WI logoChristine Porter writes; first of all, I would like to thank those of you who contributed to our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning at the end of September, either by making or buying cakes, coming into our very crowded room and enjoying a drink and slice of cake, buying raffle tickets or making a donation.   We raised over £770 thanks to your generosity.   I know ours was one of many held in the area so I feel sure a very good sum of money has been raised overall for this very worth cause.  Thank you again.

We have confirmed our booking with the coach company for our trip to Exeter on Thursday 28th November.  We leave outside the WI room at 9.30am and generally leave Exeter around 4.00pm.  This should give plenty of time for Christmas shopping, especially as the attractive market stalls will be outside the cathedral - or in my case, plenty of time for a coffee on arrival, a look round the shops, then a nice long lunch before having another look round!   The cost will be £13 and if you would like to join us please call in to our room when we are open to the public on Friday mornings and add your name to the list, or contact Hazel on 251428 or Janet on 250844.

At our September meeting we were entertained by Adelaide Brown who played 'songs from the shows' and we needed no encouragement to jin in.   We were pleased to welcome Diane and Mary to our meeting and hope they join us as members next year.   Our president then reminded us of the various activities coming up soon, such as the group quiz later this month, the AGM in November to which every branch is expected to send a delegate and observer, not forgetting the carol service at Wells Cathedral in December.  How time flies!

Our November meeting will be different to that stated on our programme, due to unforeseen circumstances, and we have decided to have a 'fun evening' when we will be playing our version of the TV quiz game 'Would I Lie to You'.   We may not have the comedy genius of Lee Mack and David MItchell but I feel sure it will be a very entertaining evening.

In the meantime, please call in to our Friday coffee mornings where you can enjoy a cup of real coffee, (or traditional or fruit tea) at a very reasonable price.
